Kaymac Structural Foam - incoporating Kaymac Rotomoulders is a privately-owned company committed to providing customers with innovative solutions to their ever-changing needs, supported by uncompromising quality and excellent after-sales service. The company has made a remarkable transition from a manufacturer of PVC road traffic cones in 1971 to a leading producer dominating the rotationally moulded plastic fuel tank market.

SANDF Vehicles

Since the 1980s KSF has been commissioned to design, develop and qualify a range of fuel tanks for the South African National Defence Force military vehicles.

Automotive plastic fuel tanks

In 1984 KSF seized the opportunity to support premier auto manufacturers with technical and design capabilities at a time when South African engineers had full design responsibility to manufacture vehicles locally and export into Africa. The localisation of plastic fuel tanks continued in earnest as Kaymac developed fuel tanks on a large scale for bakkies (pick-ups), eventually dominating the supply of completely assembled rotationally moulded fuel-tanks for: Nissan, Ford, Mazda, General Motors, Isuzu and Daimler Chrysler.

Develop flame retardant materials for the mining industry through Xyris Technologies and Pretoria University.

award for technology excellence

In 2001 the company received a prestigious award for technology excellence from the Department of Arts, Culture, Science and Technology. This award was for the design, manufacture and qualifying of rotationally moulded plastic fuel tanks to international standards. At that time Kaymac engineers wrote the standards which had to be approved in the USA by one of South Africa’s leading vehicle manufacturers - a first in the world for rotational moulding. Over this period KSF has received numerous awards from Ford, Nissan, Daimler Chrysler, General Motors and Bell as a Top 20 supplier.

Design, develop, test and qualify a refrigerated cooler box for a bakkie. As an original equipment standard item, this product was a world first, using advanced technologies in energy management of the cooling unit.
